I’m not sure the clinical background of the person who wrote this, but from my years of working with rapist as a professional this list is utter nonsense.
Leading up to a rape, rapist don’t care about the victim at all, the victim doesn’t have feelings. The rapist only cares about the opportunity to meet their needs and not getting caught.
A rapist can only be engaged and make the “right” decision well before the opportunity arises.
There is only one way to prevent the rapist who wants to rape someone: prevent the opportunity.
There is only one way to end a rape: end the opportunity to continue without being caught. Power, either from the victim or an outside presence must be brought to bare.
I saw a post the other day that said it is sexist to teach women to defend themselves from rapists. That makes no sense. To suggest that we can wish away sexually predatory sociopaths by improving social norms is a nice dream, but not rooted in reality. I don’t see a day when we will ever be free from a small percentage of sociopaths.
